Unlike wild animals, domestic animals have been tamed over many years to live with humans and help humans perform various tasks, provide food for humans, and to become faithful companions as household pets.  Some domesticated animals that are referred to as farm animals include beef cattle, milk cows, horses, pigs, sheep, and goats. Domesticated animals that are commonly family pets include dogs and cats.
